Currently...

I keep meaning to do this monthly but figured since I hadn't blogged in a while, an update of some kind was in order.

Reading

Right now I'm in the last half of Silver Linings Playbook. I didn't even know it was a book before I saw the movie in December, and I loved the movie so much, I of course had to read the book immediately! Luckily I had a subscription to Audible and downloaded the audio book. The book is vastly different from the movie (naturally), but it is still incredible. Well written, fast paced, hilarious, and honest it gives such a fascinating perspective to mental health. I can't wait to finish!

As for good old fashioned paper books, I'm still in the first half of Jellicoe Road, and preparing to start Peony in Love this weekend. Jellicoe Road has been really hard for me to get into, here's hoping I can get through most of it tonight!

Watching
My life revolves around Scandal. This show takes me on such an emotional roller coaster! A political drama that takes place in DC would not normally be my go-to form of entertainment but oh how I love it!  Olivia, President Fitz, Cyrus, Mellie...every character on that show is a complete drama queen! Shonda Rimes is a heart breaker and a dream maker. I do not recommend watching with your parents or children around because um, let's just say a Scandal episode isn't complete unless someone's panties are hitting the floor.

Also a little special shout out to my other addiction, Catfish. This show is CRAZY! Basically, it's about people carrying on online relationships, but there are all sorts of shenanigans afoot. If you don't watch this show or haven't seen the documentary from which it's based, you need to jump on that and have your mind completely blown. I still have to take a good 20 minute break after watching just to process what I've seen.

Loving
Technically this is something I'm watching too, but when I tell you that I love the Lizzie Bennet Diaries like I carried it in my womb, birthed, clothed, fed, nurtured  and watched it leave for college please believe that I am telling you God's own truth. This show you guys. THIS SHOW.

LBD is a modern retelling of one of my favorite novels ever, Pride & Prejudice in the form of web series. Basically, it's perfect. Even if you've never read P&P, the modern setting and universal themes are still relevant and incredibly entertaining. Oh and but also, the guy who plays Darcy is so freaking hot. (priorities...obvs)  I know I tend to fangirl pretty hard over things, but this is the hardest I have fangirled in a really long time. I highly suggest you start watching from the beginning, and experience the magic for yourself.

Wishing
This is a bit of a vague-blog but I kind of just wish I could be happy. I think I have some distant recollection of what complete happiness feels like, and some time in the very near future I'd like to get back to it. Happy, peaceful, rested, just unapologetic and living my life...yeah, that's definitely where I wish I was. Here's to hoping I get there right?

Anticipating
In an effort to get a little happy, I decided that the princess and I needed a little vacation. For her entire life, we have never gone anywhere just the two of us! We've been on day trips of course, but never an actual tried and true vacation. I wanted to go somewhere neither of us had never been where the most fun could be maximized in the shortest time. I also wanted to go somewhere kind of mellow and relax-y, so I chose Monterey, CA!

We're going to have so much fun, AND it's the princess' first time on an airplane! I'm definitely looking forward to sharing this new experience with her and seeing a new place. I have a few fun excursions planned too so it's definitely going to be awesome!

So what have you been up to lately?

  2. I like Catfish too. I started following Aaron on twitter
(the black guy that was pretending to be a blonde chick,)--it's pretty much like you would expect.

I hope you have a great time on your vaycay. And I am confident you will be happy again--I just have a feeling (:

    1. Oh Aaron! I just keep thinking of Tyler's face during the entire reveal conversation. I love that show way too much!

  3. You're coming to my town! If you and the Princess want to get together for lunch one day, definitely let me know. :-)

Did you make it through JELLICOE? It's my all-time favorite YA, but yes, the beginning is slow and confusing. Sticking with it is SO worth it, though. :-)

    1. OMG! I knew you lived somewhere in that vicinity but no idea I'd be right in your neck of the woods! Lunch is definitely a plan!

I'm still paging through Jellicoe. The first half is so slow but I'm slogging my way through it!
