Reading
I don't know why it's taking me so long to get through this book. It has nothing to do with the amazing writing of Maggie Stiefvater because the story is incredibly engaging and imaginitive and I'm very invested in the characters. I think it's probably more to do the idea of scary bleeping horses than anything else. I'm not a huge fan of horses to begin with and the horses in this book are creepy and deadlier than a mofo. I'm going to power through though, hopefully I'll be able to finish soon.
Thanks Ryan. ♥
Since my bejeesus is pretty much down for the count, I've also decided to start Ten by Gretchen McNeil which is an actual bonafide horror story. There are people getting murdered left and right in this book. I was lucky enough to meet Gretchen at KidLit drinks after the SCWBI conference just before her first book Possess was released. Just a few weeks ago, she did a signing in my area, so I made sure to go and show her my support. She played a book trailer that literally had me shaking in my boots. Well, not my literal boots because it was hot and I was in flip flops but you get the idea. So far, I'm only on page 10 and I'm already scared of what happens next!
Watching
Well I was going to talk about how I'm watching the new show Partners on CBS, but on Friday, it was cancelled. This is why it's dangerous to fall in love with new shows! It's better to record them on DVR and wait until they are at least 10 episodes in before starting to watch. I did this with Once Upon a Time and that worked out to my benefit. I think I'll just stick with what I know, and binge watch the shows I hear about Netflix or Hulu when I have the time.
I'm also addicted to watching this video of Jimmy Fallon and The Roots performing Christina Aguilera's Your Body with her in Jimmy's office using only office supplies. This version of the song is a zillion times better than the one on the album. Side note - 1:44 is exactly why I love me some Jimmy Fallon.
Loving
I am never all that innovative when it comes to music. I usually find out about obscure/indie/cool bands or singers years after everyone else has already discovered them. Obviously, I could never be a hipster with that kind of track record, so I can just reconcile myself with the notion that I just listen to what I like. I happened upon Two Door Cinema Club on Pinterest of all places. Someone pinned this video and I immediately fell in love with this song and started listening to them on the regular. This song has totally become my WiP anthem.
Wishing
As I always do as the year winds down and things at work get busy and my life gets more demanding, I'm wishing for a vacation. This is not remotely possible for me right now, but a girl can dream.
Anticipating:
Thursday is Thanksgiving!!! I can't wait to eat, see my family, talk about old times, eat, spend time with the princess, eat, go to the movies, eat, and have four days off in a row!
I'm also really, really, REALLY looking forward to finally seeing Les Miserables this Christmas! I have never seen the live musical so this for me is a long time coming. I pretty much sob every time I see this trailer.
So what are you up to lately?

It's not just you who took long to get through that book. I took forever. When it finally got the race is where it picked up faster for me.
ReplyDeleteOh cool! Now I have something to look forward to!
DeleteOh I didn't know Partners was cancelled! I have to say I sort of called that one though... =/ I thought it was funny but sort of only in a one liners kind of way.
ReplyDeleteIt had so much potential! If it had been on ABC or NBC it wouldn't have been cancelled, but CBS is used to a lot more viewers. I think it might have been too modern and progressive for that network.
DeleteOhhh, thanks for sharing that Jimmy Fallon video! Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI love Jimmy Fallon so much! He never fails to make me crack up!
DeleteOnly Maggie could make me cry and cheer over magical horses. I hope that book touches you like it did me!
ReplyDeleteI haven't gotten to the crying and cheering yet, but I'm way more intrigued than I would normally be over something so fantastical. Maggie Stiefvater is unbelievable!
DeleteI'm also very excited to watch Les Miserables!
ReplyDeleteThat Ten book sounds interesting. I'm way behind on reading these days. =(
I have listened to the Les Mis soundtrack on repeat pretty much every day since I first saw that trailer! I canNOT wait!
DeleteTen is super scary really good so far! Let me know if you need any book recs to get you back on the reading train!
